On UK ebay allegedly first UK 928 sold. Chassis no 9289100531. How does this compare with recent USA 928's discussed on forum??

9289... makes it a '79. Not even close to the first 928 sold in the UK.

It is probably the oldest 928 that the seller has sold in the UK.

Seller says ( no affiliation) registered on 23.11.78. 'Porsche did this on 70's cars'. How would this date compare??

August '78 was production changeover from MY 78 to 79.

At the rate of 230-250 cars per month (including both Row & US destined) works out to a build date of early October 1978. This mean RoW #531 was available and purchased off the showroom floor in England in November 1978.

Its true that UK sales started much later than LHD ROW cars but '79 MY car is too late to be first one. IIRR first UK registered car is silver and its in good hands. It was shown in local motor shows and used as demonstrator when it was new. Porsche UK still loans it for some special occasions when they want to have old models around.
