Default Fuel cooler insulation

The insulation around the fuel cooler on my car is crumbling away.

Has anyone replaced it and did you use?

Thanks.

Bicycle handle bar foam. Fits great and it's cheap.

9x25 (25mm ID, 9mm wall thickness) closed-cell neoprene pipe insulation can be slipped over the cooler. I also used 9x20 to insulate the third ac line after rebuilding it on the car (I have a hydraulic crimp tool).

There's also a size that fits the fuel rails for insulating them - but I'm too lazy to go downstairs and read the size on it

It can also be "welded" using superglue, so if you do have to cut it (fuel rails), you can seal it up again and not worry about it coming off. It comes in 1m and 2m long tubes at various local hardware stores. Its closed-cell so won't hold water, and also oil resistant.

edit: also just remembered that I use this stuff to replace the crumbled foam seals around the edges of the plates in the front fenders (e.g around the ABS unit) - one of the thinner walled ones just tucks into the groove perfectly.

Isn't working on your car nice with the engine out!

Thanks guys, plenty of ideas there.

Looks like a trip to Home Depot via the bike shop.

Wrap your closed-cell neoprene pipe insulation with some aluminum foil tape will help lock in the cool and block out more heat.
