I was greeted with the presence of ambient lighting finally after replacing my interior light relay. The dome lights haven't worked in my car for about 4 years, not even when opening the doors. I decided to remove the cover of my old interior light relay and see if there were any signs of burning on the board or on components. Much to my surprise I couldn't find any hot spots or corrosion of any kind? If those were not the cause of failure, then how did it fail? On the bottom of the board, there is some sort of resistor or capacitor missing solder to the board, but it isn't loose. I don't have a picture right now to attach, but will take one later on after work.
If I were to repair this relay, or any relay in that matter, what type of solder should be used on these type of components?

I was thinking there were specific types of electrical connection solder, i.e. rosin core. Any type is fine as long as it's for electrical applications?

Great. I have some left over the garage from repairing a 1980s Mickey Mouse clock. If I'm successful, I'm repairing the comfort relay on my C280 then so my power seats will finally work in there again.
