Yet another central locking gremlin
When I drive my car alone, everything is fine; when My girlfriend comes along however, as soon as sh ecloses the passenger door, all doors lock themselves automatically. We know each other quite long, so no need to trap her in the car
It's quite anoying; I've looked into the issue by removing the handle mechanism and clean the switches in both doors. Directly after that, the lock on the passenger door would also activate the central locking mechanism; now, however after a year, also unlocking the car from the passenger side is impossible from both the inside and outside.
Any advice of what to do? I would probably be most happy by removing all of the old stuff and put in some new central locking gear. Has anyone done that before? And how to connect them up?

Burning Brakes
Hi Bart-Jan.
The original stuff is not so bad, just sensitive to wire breaks and other minor stuff, but that can be expected of a car > 25 years old.
I would advise to check continuity in all wires going to the Central Locking motors, on each door.
The central locking motors themselves are real pieces of art, compared to the common clunky devices you see in a lot of modern cars.
I would definitively not bodge up the car by fitting those universal kits.
If I can be of help please let me know, ik spreek ook Nederlands :-)
Cheers
Michel

If you don't have time to mess with it at the present time, you can always pull the two fuses to the locks and go manuel for a while. Even though this will not fix the problem, It may help in keeping the girlfriend happy untill you have time to fix it properly.
