Default Excellence magazine 928 articles

Don't know how many here subscribe to Excellence magazine but it seems they are committed to printing articles covering every Porsche model to include our beloved 928s. Printing such stories I believe elevates others perception of the 928.

For instance, in their November 2011 editon they have a great article about the 928 GTS models being a smart buy.

I just received my December 2011 edition and there is another great article entitled "The Naked Egg" where one of their writers, Chris Harris, explains his fascination with a 1978 black 928 which he went to possibly purchase. Harris wrote an entertaining and complimentary story with nice photographs of this OB 928 that graces 5 pages of the magazine. The story had the same read as if they were writing about finding an old 911. Nicely done and made us think again about getting another 928 for a project I personally just can't seem to shake from my mind.

So if you like this sort of thing let Excellence editor Pete Stout know and get a subscription if you don't have one yet. The magazine does a good job of showing the Porsche culture around the world and broadens one's knowledge base of the other Porsche models too.

Disclaimer: No affiliation with Excellence.

Cheers,

I subscribe to ''all'' of the English language Porsche Magz. And I have all back issues of all of them.

911 & Porsche World
Total 911
GT Purely Porsche
Excellence Magazine
9Magazine
Porsche Classic

I would say that the quality of Excellence and 9Magazine is a bit below the others, but they have both improved a lot over the last couple of years. 9Magazine in particular.

No affiliation. Just a Porsche enthusiast.

One of the things I like best about Excellence is the quality of the text. Well written and very good copy editing. Finding a grammar or spelling error in any issue is very difficult. End o' rant. The GTS article was great, should have December in the mailbox this week.

The point of this thread being that a well known and widely circulated Porsche magazine publishing well written articles about the 928, not which Porsche magazine you or I consider to be the best.

Changed my initial post a bit to stop this thread from getting hijacked into that type of debate.

Cheers,

OB 78 in Excellence? This is too cool!

Why are some people getting this mag before I get mine in the mail? Very unfair.

Just read the article about the "naked egg." Really complimentary to our cars. The buying guide that follows was even more so, detailing how pleasurable the car is to drive at high speeds.

I got mine last Wed. I opened it up and was flipping through it when I noticed a cork brown leather and Pascha interior. I was like " Hey Pascha!!!", then " Hey, it's a 928!! Cool!!!" It was a very complimentary article and it represented the 928 well.

Thanks Excellence

They also did the article on BLU82 "Straight and Arrow" about 2.5 years ago... Maybe they are starting to see that there is a dedicated following to the 928 that is an untapped resource for them if they just throw us a bone from time to time.

They also did an article on Mark Anderson and one on DEVEK's White Zombie car (I think it was their car and not Mark Anderson's car that was called the White Zombie anyway...)

James,
They've had 928's in their magazine from the beginning. Bob Devore's "California Highwayman" ca 1992

I know for a fact Damon Lowney digs the 928. He's watercooled bretheren as an owner of a 944 Turbo.

It appeared in the 11/08 edition.

They were serious. The editors spent hours with me trying to get every little fact straight after their initial contact. That was after them seeing me 'yak about the car right here on R-list.

The 5 am photo shoot got pushed back twice due to the morning sun not being the way the photographer wanted it. It wasn't a bad way to spend my 15 minutes

I pick up Excellence on the newstand. I have not seen any of the other magazines (such as 9magazine). Would somebody indicate what they are and possibly an address of publishers.

There you go man. James pcar928fan is the caretaker of this one now as I'm sure you know. I'd daresay blue82 is the nicest 928 ob in existence. There are a couple with lower miles (blue82 has 3k and change) sure but, again, I'd wager '82 trumps all comers.
