Jim,
Yes you are right I should have added the 7" H4's are pretty good and a lot cheaper.

You're right. That's a good example of and what I meant by lenses and beam control. Euro lenses are what make the H-4's great - they throw a beam with _very_ controlled light dispersion.

7" Euro Hellas running H-4's, available at your Flaps, are better than 8" H-5's. (Note that referring to headlights by the type of bulb they use is technically incorrect, even though it works for our purposes)

I have the 7" H4s in mine '85 (Made by Bosch, Canadian Tire used to sell them) and they are fantastic. Drove one with H5 and they are terrible. Considering that a complete 7" kit will be around $100, and it gives 90% of the 8"H4s performance, it will be hard to pass by. They are dead simple to replace to, same procedure as replacing the exisitning sealed beams, a direct drop in, no cutting/splicing of any kind.

Maybe it's just me, but I really can't stand those chrome rings and the recessed headlight look of the early US cars. One of the first things I did to my former '86 was to get 8" H4's, it made the car look 100 times better.

Why can't the chrome rings be painted?
