Default Wobbly clutch pivot ball

I seem to have somehow wallowed out the threads for the ball in the upper bellhousing that the clutch arm connects to. I replaced the ball when I did the clutch, but just couldn't get it snug and I ran out of time to fix it and had to get back on the road. It keeps me up some nights thinking about when it might come out and strand me somewhere. :-)

Would this attribute to a slipping clutch in any way?

What would the method of repair be for this? Remove the upper bellhousing and helicoil the threads or????

Is there any way of doing this without removing the bellhousing, and if not, any way of removing the bellhousing without pretty much doing a complete clutch job again?

It really needs a Timesert instead of a helicoil.....and I see no simple way to do that with the bellhousing and clutch in the car. And I do not see how this would cause the clutch to slip.

^^^^ What JB said

Since your noticing a slipping clutch you could get a new used bell housing and swap that in when you pull the clutch out or timesert the part you have

My only guess as to how it could cause slippage was if it was causing the clutch arm to not return fully and not applying the clutch disk to flywheel completely, but with how much force the clutch puts down, I really doubt this would happen.
