Default Cruise Control issue. (for a change!)

I know the cruise control on early cars has been problematic. I have read many threads about cruise issues, resoldering dead control boxes, vacuum problems, etc. Havnt found one like my issue yet.

My cruise will set at highway speed(75) then drift down to 60mph and hold there. If I push the lever, it will accelerate to whenever I let go,65,75,85, then drift down to 60mph and hold there.

The resovoir tank will hold 20inches of vacuum indefinitly, I have seperated it from the HVAC which is prone to leaks and it still does the same.

What am I missing?? any help appreciated. Thanks, Kevin

Cruise control brain is due for a rebuild. I think Roger stocks them.

resolder the CC brain ,
pay particular attention to the leads to the board,
and in one corner find the barrel that sticks up with 3 leads resolder these leads and inspect all the other joints put the brain back in and road test
