She's a beauty! Just need to get rid of those rubstrips.
Of course... there's probably plenty of other things that need attending to ASAP as i discovered when i bought my 87 S4 5 speed. Congrats on the 5 speed. Late model/5 speed is a great combination, though the electrics can be a pain to diagnose especially in the late models.

Glad to see it! Good find on the 5 speed - with LSD no less.
Don't worry about the electronics, you've got enough gurus in NOVA with hard earned knowledge on that front.

Thanks all. I am pretty happy about the purchase. I bought it from a local guy, who did indeed have an '85 euro. I drove that one too:-) The car is overall in pretty good condition. The interior is pretty much perfect, two tone black and linen (I think, maybe gray). The exterior is really nice too. It needs Tbelt and waterpump job, but I knew that going in. Also needs a few other little things. Honestly, I've almost given myself permission to mostly just pay Taylor to maintain this car. I have my hands full keeping the other cars going and technically this one isn't mine:-)

Oh, interior... A/C blows nice and cold. The hatch release switches work. In fact, I haven't found anything that doesn't work yet. Also, it turns out that I know the guy that the PO bought the car from 10 years ago. Small community.

Short shifter and dye the seat piping...though the interior is so nice, that later may be inadvisable.
I hope I hear of the elect-tech session in NOVA, too...time to schedule in another meet before the sno flies?

Great buy. The '89 S4 5 speeds are one of the rarest pre-GTS models. They and the '89 GT's had about the same production numbers. I have a non LSD '89 5 speed for driving to, from, and on tracks. I REALLY like the 2.64 differential in these cars - but might prefer it to be a 2.54 as is in the auto GTS I have (actually I'd like that one to be closer to the 2.20 of the '88's!!).
I'd vote for installing a short shifter - makes a world of difference in my opinion. I've put a chip in my car which raises the redline to be equivalent to the GT - and added an X pipe, which should make up the 10 hp difference between the S4 and GT.
I'm sure you'll enjoy the car, and continue to keep it in excellent condition. Nice to meet you at Frenzy.
