I have this problem too on my '86.5. The PS fluid foams up the first time I turn the wheel when the engine is cold, but is fine after it's warmed up.

I changed the fluid, and tightened the clamps on the reservoir, to no avail.

Had an Audi w/that problem. Had a pinhole leak when temperatures up, sucked air.

+1, old hoses can suck in a little bit of air. Start with the oldest hose...

I had this happen over the weekend turned out to be the small hose off the bottom of the P.S. tank was cracked on both of the S bends when you straightened it out looked like Swiss cheese, Temp fix with small hose spliced to end of old hose.
