Default rear seat belt refurb?

I have gutted the back end. I am about to replace carpets and recover front seats and rear quater panels.

Rear belt retractors dont work and belts are stiff. Any refurb options or alternate replacements? I don't ever anticipate using the rear seats but don't want to leave that area open either.

Front belts are also a bit stiff. Any options there?

Thanks

I read somewhere that the belt itself gets stiff when contaminated with cleaners containing silicone, which is the majority of them.

Nothing that I can recall offered any solution other than replacing the webbing - and at the age of the car and belts, I would be considering doing this anyway.

The belts themselves can be brought back with a mild soap solution. They generally clean up nice and end up soft like new. Try a solution of dish soap and warm water.

The retractors can be lubricated to work like new. On the 928 with a little elbow grease and some patience a lot of things can be restored to like new conditions.

AMEN to that.

The car was built to last forever. My motto from the time I was a teenager has been: 'It's not broken until it's clean and broken.' and this has been proven over and over again with the 928.

Power seats move slow? How about your window motors? Sunroof too? All are probably just old lube that has gone over to the other side. Clean them up and re-lube and they'll probably work like new. Apparently this is true for the seat belts and retractors. If it moves it can wear and if it was shipped with lube back in the 80s, that lube is no longer doing it's job.

Seat Belt Solutions is a very good company to do business with. They will totally refurb your belts, webbing and mechanism for a reasonable price.
