Default I got the dribbles

My driver's side washer nozzle has the drips. The check valves are in place. Anything else I should be looking at? Seems to suck fluid out as I go down the highway and when I stop I get the runs down my hood.

I hear it is a pain in the **** to replace the check valves, is this true? Suggestions on how to fix this?

While I am at it, the spray power of the washer nozzles is less than stellar. Anyone have ideas on how to improve this.

I have taken the washer tank out, removed the metal rusty part and completely cleaned the tank. Washer pump is 4 years old. Lines were flushed at the time of the washer tank being flushed of all the rust and crap.

Jeff,

My '88 did that too but on the passenger side. Never figured out why.

Sounds like there are some pressure leaks. Maybe old hoses?

Resovoir is behind the passenger fender. Have you taken a look there yet?

I disassembled and cleaned the pump.
Then removed all the hoses and check valves.
Replaced them with a single feed line, T'eed to feed both nozzles.

Didn't need / want the intensive washers, so removing all that junk worked for me.

Most likely cause is a mineral build up in the check valves. Tie a string to one side and pull the assembly out the other side. Clean the valves in vinigar or replace them. The check valves are there because the car originally came with the intensive system and the regular system. The special fluid for the intensive system has been banned so the system in no longer needed. Just keep one check valve in the system to prevent the washer fluid from draining back into the tank. The one check valve will also let you get washer fluid right away without running the pump for a longer period of time.
