Default Stripped bolt hole

Well I guess the last gut that worked on the car stripped the hole that held the air pump and passenger side belt cover.

When I installed the passenger cover to the top hole on the porkensioner bracket with the steel shaft extension, it stripped out well before 7th lbs.

I ended up putting a smaller bolt in with no extension and some loctite. The cover seems to be tight enough without that bolt.

From what I can tell that bolt does not seem crucial to the seal of the porkensioner bracket.

I will have to tap that hole next time I have her apart.

Hopefully it doesn't cause any issues.

I had to fix that same hole plus the one right below/left this weekend. I installed TimeSerts in both. They are the best fix out there IMHO. Not cheap for a kit but easy to install and works well. www.timesert.com/ Once you have the tooling additional inserts are cheap. I plan to eventually buy the 10mm and 6mm kits to go along with the 8mm kit I already have.

You can leave out the IMHO, they are the best, bar none.

I have the 8mm and 10mm timesert kit and will soon have my 6mm. They are a godsend.
when I took my engine out this year (well a couple times), I saw that Greg Brown (it had to be him) had put time serts in the 12mm bolt holes that are in the block. I don't know it it was stripped or just a preventative measure. Glad he did, don't want those to strip out on me.

Another tip, if the tap gets dull, the same size tap for a heli-coil has the same pitch on the ones I have tried.
