will not start
I have a 1984 928s 16v us, I had the engine running in my driveway and it just cut off so i tried to start it but itt would not. so checked the fuel pump it was working so i checked for a spark the spark plugs no spark but the coil wire had a spark going into the distributor cap so there is a spark going into the distributor but none come out could it be the the pick up coil gone bad ?
Thank u for the help

Heck of a reason for your fourth post.
Pop the distributor cap and see if the rotor turns when you crank the engine. If it doesn't, it's likely that the timing belt has failed. Verify bu pulling the passenger side drive cover if you can't see the belt move through the vent ports on the tops of the covers.
The good news is that the US '84 car is non-interference, so there's just the task of replacing the belt and the associated bits. No need to replace bent valves and such.

Hard to figure why the spark would go into the cap but not come out, unless the timing belt has either broken or slipped.
Pull the timing belt covers and see if the belt has slipped/jumped. With the engine at TDC on number one cylinder, the timing notches on each of the cam gears should line up with the mark on the backing plate behind it. Remember that the cams turn at half of cranks speed, so the gears will line up at every -other- crankshaft TDC.

since the belt turns the distributor and the distributor turns the spark ignition,
i would say the T belt is OK but the timing should be checked put the engine at TDC remove the cap and verify that the rotor points to the hash mark in the distributor edge.
Then ask yourself what was the last thing i fixed

I would also check the cap to make shure the cabon button in the center is still intack, and also the rotor bug to see if still has the contact strip and end tip.

Spark to the cap with no spark out usually indicates a failed cap and rotor or weak coil. A failed tbelt would cause a no spark condition or incorrect spark timing if belt jumped.
