Porsche 928 value table
I found this interesting, thought I'd share with y'all. The numbers only goes up to 2009, but we can probably extrapolate.

Good stuff. Thanks for posting.
I understand why they separated 86 out (not specifically of course), but I wonder why they grouped 84-85 together?

OTOH I don't agree much with their price ranges, too high on early cars, too low on newer, and oriented to some fantasy "nice cond" when the details of condition vary too much in the real world.
But any press is good press I suppose.

the price numbers are a nice bit of fiction.....several good comments about model variations and some which simply parrot back common misunderstandings. Entertaining which is why it is published.
But it has been kicked around here for ages every year that it gets warmed up and re-served.

Same article year after year in the mag. Purely SWAG on the values..... Has been for years. They've posted an explanation about how they come up with the values prolly due to all the questions (and threads here?) about HTH they get their numbers. The explanation boils down to..... blah, blah..... blah!

FWIW, I just sold my friends amazon green 94 GTS and even if I were to add their "10% for low miles" BS, their number is still way low..... There would have to be several more 10% adds. They cannot be an expert on every model especially one they are not very enthusiastic about.

In reality, they only care about 911's, and selling new cars.

In my opinion Excellence is published more for 911 owners than 928 owners. Plus the advertising is slanted more towards the air cooled crowd. I do know it's an independent publication, just my opinion.
Most of the other Porsche model owners look at us like we're the redheaded stepchild of Porsche.

I don't know about the rest of the world, but here in norcal, our 911 cousins look upon the 928s like unicorns at a rodeo. I think the redheaded stepchildren are the 914's, they are even worst off than we are. At least we get more or less the "Wow, you have the courage to keep THAT thing running?!" and "Wow, I didn't know those still run!' looks. And when they see one of us zooming past them at 110, I usually get the friendly thumbs up. (Marin County has a lot of Porsches!) Wait... Were those middle fingers?

Couldn't agree more on the latter.
For instance, the market low to high on a '78 is more broad - $5K low, 10K high. Personally, I believe the high is more like $12.5 - $15K for excellent original paint, or top-quality paint restoration.
All things being equal for interior or mechanics.... clean and original, good condition.
Also, the high side at $15K would have had more restoration performed on mechanics and interior.
Good example of the high side would be Ed Rice's (Linderpat) minerva blue/camel-pascha #834 US.
Good example of the low side what Drew (Cronin) just picked up, silver/black #579 ROW.
And of course Chuck, you are aware of the extremely highly valued early cars.
They are so few at this point, that they just don't fit in to the mean range.
