Default Is this window seal bad?

For some time I've been aware of loud wind noise which is very obvious above 60mph. I became more aware of it when I fitted the GTS-style windshield seals which cut out all the wind noise from that area! The noise seemed to come from top rear of RHS door (driver's door for me) and also at lower rear corner of the glass in that door.

I have renewed the door seal on that side in past, but not replaced any of the other seals.

Recently I drove another owner's 928, and realised how little noise came from same areas in his car. So I finally got round to looking closely at the seals today.

Well what do you know. On that RHS door I could actually see the lower rear corner of the glass when the window was fully up (there's a sort of cut-off in that corner of the glass). On the other side it fits snugly into the seals and you can't see its edge.

And at the rear top of glass on RHS the seal channel is much wider than on the LHS. I can actually feel the glass edge by pushing my finger in which is impossible on the LHS.

I took photos of the lower rear corner of glass on both sides (window fully up), and the area where the horizontal seal in door channel meets the seal heading up side of window frame on both sides. Hope it's clear which is which by the door lock pillar.

Yes I know, whoever installed the RHS door scraper seal did a messy job, with the "kicked up" section at rear apparently stuck on!

Seems to me that the seal which runs round top and sides of door channel is much wider on the noisy RHS, and is pulled back to extent that the glass corner doesn't seat snugly into it. What do the door seal experts out there think?

I do have a new RHS scraper seal, but haven't fitted yet as it sounds such a pain to install! How is that seal which goes round top and sides to install? Do you think that's the problem?

Aren't ALL 928 window seals bad by now? Unless, of course, they have already been replaced?

Our babies are getting OLD!
