I can help answer a few questions.

The Murf supercharger bracket that Cliff has on his '87 is different than the Murf bracket for the '85-'86 cars. The chips are also different between the '87+ cars and the '85-'86 cars.

The Murf stage-2 kit is no longer being offered, and was basically replaced by the stage-3 kit. When Cliff got his stage-1 kit, the difference between it and the stage-2 was that the stage-2 included a smaller supercharger pulley, for more boost, and all of the intercooler components. That included the intercooler, pump, heat exchanger, plumbing and fittings. All Murf kits have always come with four puller fans. The stage-2 and stage-3 kits also included an additional front pusher fan, which was an option on the stage-1 kits. Cliff's stage-1 kit has that pusher fan.

As far as fueling goes, the stage-1 kit that Cliff has uses the stock fuel injectors and an FMU. The stage-2 kits included 30lb injectors and an FMU. The current stage-1 and stage-3 kits use a configuration consisting of 42lb injectors, no FMU, different chips, and a MAF recalibration device.

The crank pulleys of all the Murf kits are the same, but the supercharger pulleys were different with different versions of the kits.

The Murf kits were always configured so that it was pretty easy for someone to upgrade from the stage-1 configuration. Someone buying Cliff's stage-1 kit could run it exactly like it is on his car now, upgrade to the latest stage-3 configuration, or go to somewhere in between if they wanted to. I'm sure that Tim would supply whatever would be needed to take Cliff's kit to whatever configuration a new owner would want, if they wanted to make any changes to it at all that is.

Wonder if Tim would exchange the bracket and chips for early 32v stuff. I would rather not have the FMU however.

Which one to buy an 87 S4 or 86.5? Hmmm?
Why not 86.5 is cool and already have an 87.

Fast foward to today....

Which blower is it, is the one that is lubed with engine oil or the self contained one?

As far as 85-86 vs 87+ goes, I think the only difference is the 85-86 has a provision to bolt the throttle linkage onto the side of the bracket. Maybe others with more experience with the Murf systems can chime in on that. Could be a relatively easy mod.

Great deal! GLWS

It is not the self contained one.

Very, VERY tempting. Just picked up Roger's EIS, which obviously would not work with this (not yet installed, however...). I'd really like to sell my black 928 first, and ideally I'd rather turbocharge than supercharge my car, but damn this looks like a great deal. Someone buy it before I do something stupid!

I think it's yours. It's your destiny. Buy it... you know you want to.

BTW, the ticket got resolved. Reduced to improper equipment. Total cost about $500 incl. atty fees.

Really need to sell my black one first. I just reduced the price. Sick deal on that car (IMHO) but I need the garage space, and now I need the coin to buy this supercharger.

Excellent. No PBJ I assume... any probation at all? i.e., take it easy next year on the way to and at SITM? Yea, right

This is a Bitchn' deal people. If you had to build a kit like this from scratch at home, not including your own time, would be right about $2800, maybe even more.
