You need to take the trim off the car, install the seal into the trim ( soapy water may make it easier to work with ) and then install the seal and trim as one piece. A hammer and a rubber mallet work well. Put the rubber mallet on the trim and strike it with the hammer. Work your way from one side to the other. It takes alot more force to install it than you would think but the trim is surprisingly tough.

if you remove the trim from the door you will probably damage it or the painted surfaces,
And then you wont have a secure way to hold the trim while you install the rubber seal
What I do is remove the door panel,
then inner rubber seal at the top of the door on the inside,
this will let the window fall clear of the edge seal,
then remove the 2 felt rub brackets,
then carefully pry the old seal out,
put some silicone grease on the first few inches of the new edge seal , start at the rear and work forwards,
the seal has a unique 3 way gripping area thats very hard to install it can be done,
Also try to have the work area in the sun to keep the seal warm

Did use Stan's method. Seemed to be the best route to take without sacrificing the new paint. Tricky, but got it done. Thanks to all. (U2 Stan!) 77Tony
