question on tire width for 17 x 7.5 Cup II wheels

Thanks for the info but if I don't want to get involved with spacers what would be the maximum width tire I could put on rear BBS 9.5 inch wide rims, would 275's fit without any problems or would they throw the handling off with my 225/50-16 tires on 8 inch rims in the front? Please spell out the complete tire size specs for the best for rear tires? Tire & rim sizes, offsets are confusing, the only tires I've ever had with any of my 928's are 225/50-16 .
