View Poll Results: Would you purchase an OE quality rear 6.5" speaker adapter/grill (est. cost $75-$100)
I plan on using these to replace the big boxy 84-88 grills

So are you making this to perfectly fit a known available grill or also include fabricating a whole new grill as well in this project?
I rather assumed the former - but now am thinking maybe you mean the latter... if so is that driven by material matching requirements?

Alan,
If you look at the posted renderings, you will see that there is a lip for a friction-fit steel mesh grill. This will be stamped out of the same round-perforated steel that is used on the other replacement grill I am making.
So the entire assembly would include one lower portion and one one stamped steel grill. They would fit together for a modernized stock appearance.
The lower portion of the adapter will be made according to the ISO standard, so any standardized 6.5" rear speaker of compatible depth would screw right in... expecially my custom driver which you can also see rendered You can see that I used an ISO basket for that driver for this purpose, to make sure the driver and the adapter could be used cross-platform.
So the adapter can be used with most 6.5" drivers, and the 6.5" driver will hopefully be usable in other applications in the future.
Thanks
Hans

Hans,
I would like a set for my 88 and one for the 87 with 89 rear panels.
I only voted for a pair of speakers, not which type.
Did Porsche use these in any other cars?

Hans,
I think you should leave this idea to brew for a while, once everyone get their front speakers they may realize that it is important to have matching rear sub woofers
Best of luck with all your awesome projects!
