Default Alternative shims for front of central shaft

I am installing a rebuilt 25mm circlip-grooved central shaft into my 1990 S4 and I need a total of 7.80mm thickness of shims (including the 2.00mm 'collar') but I have only bought 6.40mm of OEM shims (including the 2.00mm 'collar'). So I am 1.40mm shim thickness 'short'.

Is there any reason I can not simply make up the shortfall with after-market high tensile steel washers of the correct ID and OD, or is there something extra special about these OEM washers?

They're cheap and I'd simply order some more, but I'm in Aus and I'd like to put the engine in mid week - but this is important so if I need to wait for another envelope from Roger I will

Thanks

Dave O

If you can make it up with washers then use them.
