Found it--not too hard to find it is a little to the rear of the ignition control (spark box) unit. The number matches the vin number at the base of the windshield = 9288200342 rather than 9288200319 that is on the label in the drivers door jam.

Default an interesting piece...

I've been trying to figure out at what point during RoW production did the US car production begin.
I haven't had anything concrete, and the number has fluctuated from around 500 to 300 (RoW cars built).

So here another piece of anecdotal info from our RoW #579 car:

Found this underneath the glove box.

Not exactly sure what to make of it, but #644 is not near #579.

Would be interesting is the number represented a cumulative build of both RoW & US. If that was the case, that would mean 514 RoW cars were built before US prod. began. Also meaning, 65 US cars were built before RoW #579.

Long story short, this number is very close to my original estimate. FWIW.

That's what I read.

Here's the VIN tag from US #0029, built just before your's. Thanks for taking the time to do this!

the funny thing about mine and #29....they were originally the same color...I wonder if they ran them in "color batches" on the assembly line?!

They tried to as much as possible. Every color change meant some down time. Only in past 10 years or so it has been possible to change really quickly and it doesn't matter anymore.

That would be the addition! 6 attached, plus now looks more like it might be 9 double tall plus still able to park 2-3 in front of the R/V... Should be just about enough room for the collection...
