Default Bumper repaint

I found a decent front bumper and took it to the local body shop. One that seems to good work and familiar with Porsche's. Not a big insurance type shop.
They want $600 to prime and paint. The bumper is not attached. This seems a bit high and I know the local Miracle shop wants $300 for both front and back. What is fair price and is the Miracle work a waste of money, does one get twice the quality at an independent shop?

if there is any paint damage in the bumper cover you got,
IE spider cracks,
then it should be media blasted to the underlying surface then refinished,
600.00 sounds about right for all the time it will take to do it right

I found a local shop who will shoot my front bumper cover and hood for $300...including stripping them down before shooting! AWESOME!!! Now lets see if they will actually come through for me!

The $600 price only includes surface sanding, paint and clear coat
I asked them to fill in the license plate holes and they told me that can't be done
I think I will shop around

Don't take it to Miracle.
Spend the extra money and get it done right; it will work out better in the long run.

I paid $500.00 for my front bumper about 3 years ago. That included them removing and re-installing the bumper and filling the headlight washer holes. Given inflation $600. is probably about right.

I would ask them exactly what they are going to do. Don't prompt them, ask the question then be silent. If you tell them they will probably agree and then not do it when it comes to the actual job. The media blasting, pecan and walnut shell is expensive, along with plastic priming, plenty of flex add in the primer $600 would be a bargain. For just painting it, it is too expensive unless it is a top shop that is going to perfectly match to the rest of the car. It is not impossible to fill the holes, I have done it many times.

I am beginning to agree with everyone. A $300 Miracle is a $300 Miracle job. If it's off just a little, I will regret it and most likely have it re done and spend $600 the second time and then I would be up to $900. This particular shop always seems to have 911's etc, in for repairs including painting bumpers, I have yet to see a cheap rice grinder in this shop being worked on.
I am going to suck it up and do it right and go with them.

It's the right choice. The Miracle job might last you a couple of years and if you are going to keep the car it deserves better. You gets what yous pay for...

Thanks, it's 928's like yours that inspire me do to do it right. I'm a Scot and it's always hard to part with money and normally at the end of the day I am good at paying over retail....

I think this was you better decision. I suspect that Miracle was not you only other choice. Here, you are going to pay $600, end up with spider cracks, and still not have the holes filled, which is a simple task, and you are not going to be happy with it. Then, you will probably find another shop or individual doing work out of his garage, who will do it for $400 more or less.

Keep looking.
