Looks like the in-tank pump was removed from the part that threads into the fuel tank and the recesses that housed the in-tank pump electrical connections were filled with epoxy? In which case, there is now no strainer between the tank and the main fuel pump...

A stock in-tank fuel pump, with the pump, leads, and connecting hose cut off? I guess the epoxy is there to submerge the exposed wire leads?

Erik- Does Tim have the uber-strainers available now? I still want one but it sort of fell off my radar. Shall I just hassle him directly?

Here's my ghetto version for use when re-inflating gas tanks...

You guys really need to look at this photo. The outlet size of the in-tank pump piece (on the far left) is smaller than the factory strainer piece (middle) when a single pump is used.

If the 044 pump is not needed for your application, spend the $75 and buy the factory piece / strainer

What I found when hunting for my fuel leak at the rear was that the plastic terminal inserts that the wires are connected to were leaking fuel.

When i taped one it fell out.

Since the in-tank pump hose was cracked, and due to what some of the other threads on the in-tank pump said, I decided to remove the pump, snip the wires and terminals off clean and epoxy everything back in. extra epoxy went into the back for extra sealing.

I had a nice fine filter from my carb rebuilding days that got clamped on the end for now.
