I have the old motor (out of the Cobalt car), will spin it up and see what kind of current it draws.
Whatever the current draw is, the new motor is powerful enough that it pneumatically roto-rooted the old, dusty evaporator and ductwork and blew dust and crap all over the newly refinished interior....
could ya modify the intake and plumb it to the injen?
Does anyone know if the 911 blower motor will fit into the 928 housing? There seems to be two versions; one with outboard brushes and one with inboard brushes. The one that should work w/o modifying the housing is:
To find the correct motor I tried at least 20 so not that easy. Get a blower and try it. Let us know if it works or not.
If you have the dimensions or the part number I can cross check against the details I have.
Part number 911 571 320 32. First look says it is too small, may fit with some Dremel surgery.

Just ordered one. I let you know if it fits.(fingers crossed). I hope that they have a good return policy. I took the other apart. The bearings are gimbaled. I can't tell if they are a simple bushing or if the inner sleeve rotates. There isn't much wear on the shaft or the sleeve. There seems to be limited wear of the brushes, but the commutator needs to be turned. It was plenty bound up before I took it apart and seems to spin easily now. It is such a pain to take out the blower, I would rather just go with a new motor.

My 928 S4`s blower motor is making this irritating squeeking sound so it seems I need a new one. I would be highly interested in this "blug and play" Bosch blower motor or any similar options which helps me save some money.

Roger I had a look on your website for the fan motor pictures but couldn't find anything. I wasn't sure if the pics posted in the thread by others are what you are selling and given some time has now elapsed I was wondering if you are still selling this solution and if this is still the best way to go. Also is there any options for replacement of the rubber vacuum diaphragms? I think I probably should change them all. I know my recirculated flap vac unit has a hole and I suspect the blend door also.

928sRus and friends have developed a “plug and play” solution using a new Bosch blower motor that requires no modification.
Remove the six clips (flat bladed screwdriver) holding the two halves of the body together. Remove the clip holding the electrical box cover in place. Disconnect the two contacts from the motor. Remove the bolt holding the motor into the blower body. Remove the squirrel cage from the splines on the old motor. Replace on the new motor and ensure the shaft is protruding slightly from the bush. Place the motor and cage assembly into the blower body and check that the cage runs smoothly and there is clearance. Assembly is the reverse and you are in business.
Higher speeds and increased flow over the old worn out motor are the benefits.
Price for the new motor is $169.95 plus shipping.

Some cars 77 to 81 came with an earlier style blower which may or may not accept the new motor. We will try one this week to see if it works. The newer blower is backward compatible with the earlier style.
