Finally got car up Monday AM. I 'suggested' to the fellow 'we' remove the alternator to inspect the starter/alternator cable which had a loose terminal end at the starter. Sure enough this cable was on the wrong side of the heat shield and had its outer insulation degraded. Apparently as the car hit some bumps it would ground to the block. As to why the light switch would cut power, it is probably the same Gremlin the deactivates my AC relay. All is back to baseline, and I will investigate further. Thanks Guys

Cool. Sounds like the alt was able to power just the car, adding the extra load from the headlamps forced it into overload and stall.
