Default What is this ?

Hello,
After looking at the starter #33 post on grounds, i can tell you my car does not have them where that list says they are.
anyway, i removed the cover in front of the front wheel to get access to my drivers side headlight that was not working, and YES, i found the broken wire. One thing i can now check of my fixit list. Also found a ground from the housing of what i think is the power steering pump to the frame. All cleaned.
Under the cover was a 3 inch diameter cloth hose about 2 feet long. It isnt connected to anything, the one end is a niice clean cut on the end, the other looks like it was torn away from something. there is a wire connected in the middle. The only thing i can assume is that it cools that chamber ? Any idea? i cant see what the bottom of it ever connected to.
Now back to the inermiottent spark, i have cleaned 7 grounds so far. Yesterday it started up, today just cranking. You guys have been helping me with this, and we have concluded it is not no fuel or timing belt not turning, or i think grounds, just intermittant spark

the 2 inch diameter hose is for the HVAC temp sensor one end in the fender shoul be made into a 180 degree ben so water wont get into the tube the other end should connect to the round tube on the alternator if your alt rear cover is missing the the round part is also gone the alternator sucks air into the tube then its used to sense outside temperature and then the air is sent to alternator to provide cooling,
if the duct is missing the stones will get sucked into the rear of the alternator
