The platinum wire in the MAF glows red hot after each drive burning off any junk....Some believe that excess oil on a K and N filter is enough to ruin the wire. Spraying it with anything seems like a bad idea....

You might want to do a full throttle run 0-100 MPH and time how long it takes....that will tell you if it is running anywhere near right...

I just had one rebuilt by a rennlister and its fantastic now.
We spray them all the time with Wurth brake cleaner, and I can't remember every causing a good one to go bad, but again, we rarely spray good ones.
