Right, so you don't have an 82 (read your original quote).
His 84 is also 310HP, same as your 86. I have one also, 84 @310.
Sorry Brett, I know too much about them.

Hi

I must be missing something here regarding hp....

In the UK... S2`s (16 valve) had 300 or 310 hp.(up to 86)

In the UK... S4`s (32 valve) had 320 hp. (86/87 onwards)

I had heard that the American (non ROW) had less because of the cats etc ?

I seem to remember a figure of 286 for American 16 valves (maybe from a post here)

Just taken this from WIKI >>>> North American-spec 1983 and 1984 S models used, among other differences, smaller valves, milder camshafts, narrower intake manifolds, and additional pollution equipment in order to meet emissions regulations, and were limited to 234 hp (174 kW/230 PS) as a result.

All the best Brett

Brett, USA got the ROW cars as well, grey market, without cats.

In 80, 81, 82 and 83, they were mechanical injection (CIS) 300 HP
In 84/5/6 they were LH/EZ/MAF 310 HP (I have one of these, 16valve.)

Yes, 85/6 32V cars had 288 hp USA. ( I have two of these )

Yes, much less HP for 16V USA cars with the AFM, which is the subject of our OP's post and doesn't have the ability to set residual CO level ( I have 2 of these )

You confused things saying that your 82 had a MAF that could be adjusted and that it had 310 HP.
You meant to say 84 I guess.

yep. Condused... Me2.
Brett, you made me wonder if I got it totally wrong.... but the 1982 is a CIS (K-jetronic). Nothing else. The S2 was introduced in 1984 with a LH2.2 ecu and hotwire MAF.

BTW: dunno if you guys know this spreadsheet I made: http://jenniskens.livedsl.nl/Evolution/928specs.xls
Any comments or corrections appreciated.

Hi

You are absolutely correct...in my first post I said mine was an 86...in my second I said 82 (now edited to 86)

Personally I think you are just greedy owning 3 928s lol

Although I recently nearly bought a 928 GT for £4850, until the Ebay seller withdrew it It was just too good a price to let it go....

On the other subject, I didnt realise that the US got grey market cars....your 86 must be identical to mine...310 hp,LH/EZ/MAF etc etc...has yours got rear aircon as mine hasnt and never seen it on any UK car ?

All the best Brett

I went to see it. Would have been good for someone who wanted to spend a few thousand to bring it up to good running order. Every oil containing part of the car leaked. As I already have an overhaul in the garage I left it.

If you are still looking there is another GT in Surrey - check Autotrader, down to 5800 from 8500. Drives OK.

I noticed this thread got a little sidetracked...:-).

Thought I would give an update. I replaced the AFM today and it looks like I nailed down the culprit. The car is completely transformed. Zero hesitation, excellent throttle response, much smoother idle. When I got it out, it definitely appeared that someone down the line had messed with it.

This weekend I will get down to cleaning those ground points as discussed just to "complete" the job.

Thanks Again! Now on to the remaining 100 items on the 928 to-do list.

Hi, the spreadsheet has two tabs, a German version and an English version. They should be (assuming I did not maken mistakes) in sync.
I decided not to make a Dutch tab as the "audience" would be pretty limited

best regards,
