Default (From CL) I'll give you $100 to fix my (freebie) $5000 928

I know some of you have seen this, but for the "go fish" record, for posterity:

From craigslist, DC

1986.5 PORSCHE 928 S 32V 286HP V8 AUTOMATIC (easy project) - $5000 (ALEXANDRIA)

I really do not want to sell this car but will if I can get atleast $5000 for it I will. It will start and then die after idleing for about 3 or 4 seconds(THE FLASHER LIGHT COMES ON AND BLINKS AS SOON AS YOU TURN THE KEY AND NO GAUGES WORK IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER...... alarm???.I WILL PAY $100 OR MAYBE MORE FOR ANYONE WHO CAN WALK AWAY FROM THIS CAR AND LEAVE IT IDLING SMOOTHLY.I have switched relays around and that didn't do anything but I may not have switched the right ones. I bought it at a charity auction not running. It would only start with starting fluid but then die. I put power to the old pump and it was dead. I bought a new pump and filter and installed them both and now it will start without starting fluid and idle nicely for 3 to 4 seconds but will not idle after that unless you give it gas and then it will run very rough and conk out as soon as you let off on the gas. I know this is somethiong simple but I havn't been able to track down an exact answer online as to what exactly is not working. If you are reading this and are a 928 guy you probably know what the problem is. Please either tell me or come and buy this car! AGAIN>>> $100 or maybe more to anyone who can get this car to idle smoothly and I don't car if it only takes you 30 seconds to fix it. The price is $5000 CASH FIRM.

Prove to me that you put $5000 in the hands of said charity, and I'll fix the biatch for free.

I wonder if reality will ever sink in with this fellow? Most likely not! A whole $100! Wow! I am thinking not even $1000 would begin to cover diagnostic time, unless Chris really does want to donate his time, and I think he made a safe bet on that...and it could well be a $10 fix for all I know......but....it is an "easy project" after all.....the man who knows nothing told us so....

Reminds me of an '82 that was about 4 miles away, posted on craigs list. Guy wanted $5k but the car wouldn't run due to a water pump leak. Went over thinking that if the car was as described I'd give him $2k and fix it myself. It wasn't. Dented up, paint missing, bad seat covers...basically trashed. Told him how much it would be to fix it and he had no interest in that, he knew it was worth at least $5k.

He can give me $100. I'll look it over and tell him I then don't want the car.
