Default Windshield Washer Filler Neck Replacement

Can the filler neck be replaced without the trouble of removing the fender and/or wheel well cover on an S4? My tank and the lines are OK, but the top of the neck melted or softened at some point and the snap cap won't fit anymore.

to replace the filler neck you will need to have access to the underside as the filler is connected to a transfer hose,

jack up the RF,
remove the wheel,
then remove the inner liner,
then you will see the filler tube connection,
remove the metal collar from the new fill tube by dipping into hot water then the metal will slide out ,

also remove the metal collar from the tank inlet,
if its all rusty then you can drain the tank from the sender fitting,
then flush it out in position.
NOTE the fill tube is also held to the fenderwell with a small phillips screw,
its a pain to remove from the engine bay side,
you may not be able to install the new filler with this screw but the other attach points should hold it.
Did the car have an engine fire? this part doesnt usually melt

Thanks for the procedure-I'm going to give it a try in a week or 2. It's actually only the lip at the top of the neck that's affected. Absolutely no sign of fire whatsoever-I've been through the engine compartment from om top to bottom over the years and the filler neck is the only damage I've ever found.
