Does anyone know the pressure spec for the pwr strg fluid, with a warm car engine at idle?
Car has correct fluid level, res was changed a few seasons ago and system flushed with new ATF.

more info: when the system was flushed there was clear evidence in the reservoir of good flow which is no longer the case.....engine idle.

Not sure what you mean by pressure spec.
The pump in the pre'90 cars s a 75-bar pump on the high side, but you can have the reservoir open as the return isn't that high pressure and the fluid will stay in the reservoir.
If the fluid isn't circulating with the engine idling, I'd drain and replace the PS reservoir, then leave the return spigot capped and connect a line to the return from the rack into a bottle, and flush the system with new fluid until it runs clear (for ATF - i.e. reddish clear). This includes turning the rack to both extremes while flushing.
I need to do this with one of my 87's - checked today and the PS fluid is filthy! So a new reservoir is in my next parts order, and I'll flush the tack with cheap Dex III.

thx Hilton.
Thats the process I used previously with a new res and fresh ATF. It did cycle the fluid then but not now, at least not that I can see.
I'll get another res and reflush.
