Nippondenso 10PA20c Owner's Manual
Greg has a new-in-box Denso 10PA20c A/C compressor on the shelf that came with a manual. I offered to scan it, as it has some care and feeding instructions and torque values for the service valve plate and hose lines I'd not seen before.

Just spent three days (yep, three days) changing the compressor on the wife's STS. A royal PITA - the compressor lives under the exhaust manifold and alternator and above the frame - large transverse engine in an intermediate car, with no room at all.
The Denso instructions don't mention a few things that Cadillac insists on.
- The replacement compressor came with the factory fill of PAG - Cadillac says that you need to add two ounces of additional oil to the compressor.
- The compressor should be placed on the clutch face for two minutes prior to installation, to ensure that the front seal is lubricated.
- The accumulator must be changed, and you must add four ounces of oil to the accumulator.
- The orifice tube must be changed. Mine was nasty - yep, it needed changing.
- After installation, you must turn the compressor by hand for several turns, to ensure that it is not hydro-locked by the oil.
- Cadillac says that 45 minutes is the minimum vacuum time, and 25-27 inches doesn't make the cut. My ragged old pump shows 30 inches plus/minus, depending upon the pressure that day.
- The Denso instructions don't take into account the possibility of changing R-12 to R-134a, which requires POE oil, not PAG. Their instructions will work for a system that has not been converted.
Lots of gotchas in working on an automotive A/C system.
