Default broken timing belt cam markings?

1984 16V tensioner broke whick caused timing belt to snap off. Now that I have everything off and can see the cam gears I CANT FIND ANY MARKINGS ON THE GEARS or th block. I need to rotate cams to TDC but cant find markings on the cam gear or the engine block. Where do I look? What doe the marks look like? And are they the same on both cam gears?

There is only one gear part no for each engine type (16V or 32V). The rear of the belt casing (not actually the 'block', its bolted to the cam casing) has timing marks. The rear of the gear has a small nick in it - look at any of the belt changing threads, as in dwayne's garage....32V gears have a 1/4" wide notch on the front face, and the same small nick at the back edge. On the LHS (looking in), there should be a ridge on the rear casing that is at around 45degrees left of vertical as a timing marker.
