Frank,
All the FVD/Rad wheels are airbag wheels if I remember correctly. Did you want to ADD an airbag to your 87??

I think your best bet is to go with some type of MOMO (many styles to choose from) or a 930S wheel. Airbags were not installed on the 928 until 1990.

Here is a GTS with one.

Chuck;

Thanks for the picture!
Yes, I know about the sans-le-airbag (something I wish was more prevalent here at work) issue, but I love the way this steering wheel looks. My only concern is that it will be too small to see the instruments. I have spoken with Rhonda (Via email, FVD/U.S.) and she says it will not be an issue to install, and that other 928 owners have used the 964 hub?
As for size, they have a 360 MM, which I believe is the same size as the 930S wheel, so visual issues with instruments should not be a problem.
Thanks
Frank
PS is this your GTS?

It looks like FVD sells non airbag wheels too.

Anyone know about this one? It says it is made by Formel--looks a lot like the AJ wheel that Pelican sells, only at a better price.
Looks pretty good to me.

Frank,

I've talked to Rhonda as well and got some good info from her. I don't really care for the Airbag wheels on the 90 and newer cars, but I'm not too gung ho about ditching the wheel for a non airbag momo. Although I must say, a classic Grey 930S wheel (like the above black one) would look killer in the car.

Here's one of the airbag wheels that they sell and it's a 365mm unit. If I ever get around to changing the wheel, this will be the one I go with. Its got a slightly larger diameter vs the non-airbag 930S wheel (365mm vs 360mm).
I'd get paul champagne to do it in classic grey with a porsche crest textured in the center for something that might look like it could have come from the factory.

Again, consider doing the 930S wheel on your car. Do a search and look at all the S4's that have them. They look awesome and can either order them or get them recovered in any Porsche colored leather you want to match your interior.

Good luck!

Chuck-

I've on the fence. I really like the 930S wheel, but not sure...Same with the FVD wheel. I guess it will come down to the nutcracking on Gordak's after I get the report back Monday. I pretty much own it as it is, so that being said, if nothing major is lurking, then I will probably pony up for the FVD....If there is, then hello 930S.
I like the way the FVD fills the space so to speak, and I think it fits the 928s personality. I guess the 930S wheel is at issue because the center of the wheel is....too small? It's been a long day so I might be blah-blahing
BTW, the link you posted is the FVD I want...GMTA!

also-
I've seen the 930S on other S4's, and it looks great. I've seen a couple with the Porsche crest both embossed and with the crest ..painted.

Frank,
What color is your interior?
Here is some work Paul did on a smaller version of that wheel. Not a fan of carbon fiber, but I am a big fan of Classic Grey!!

Chuck-
Like Paul's work very much, plan to go with the center console system he and Co. are working on, as well as a complete overhaul of the interior itself.
FVD wheel looks good, but I like the simple look for the steering wheel.
Attached is a photo of mine (interior).
