Couple years after production stopped I started hearing cool stuff about these cars, but too slow on the draw looking for one and pretty much the great deals on fairly new cars disappeared. I hunted around a little for a couple years, but family tolerance for old used cars had reached a pretty low point and I bought new 91 Mustang instead of looking more. 20 years later the Mustang is still fast and reliable, but the Xr sure would have been nice.

At the time I think people were using some Ford motorsports block called a Probe? With crazy boost and intercooling.
