LED Running Lights Poll
On the fence on how the newer style LED running lights would look somewhere on the front of the 87+ cars for a little more modern look. Don't know if it would look right on the OB's, but who knows, it might. A flexible, cut to length, forward facing, clear/white light LED strip that would stick to the lower shelf, just below the driving/fog/blinkers ? Maybe sticking 3-4" strips on both left & right sides, sitting on the top of one of the grill slats ? T

Maybe Nicole will chime in and let us know what she has to offer. http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b....html%23snfls? Has a few flexible, weatherproof sets that can be cut to length. Also, the Audi R8 has some LED running lights that have a little gap between each light that looks pretty cool. If I remember correctly, Audi seems to have started this trend, and then others car companies followed rather quickly. At first, I did not like the way they looked, but they have really grown on me over time. T http://www.audiusa.com/us/brand/en/m...os_videos.html

If you notice the factory jobs you have pictured here... each LED has it's own lens capsule -and has a definite professional finished appearance.
Unless it is done like that somehow, it will probably have a ricer look.
(I am considering the same thing myself right now!)

I have LED strips running along the top of the fog / spot lights on my S4. I put them there due to the subdued car colour and to save the need to run around with the fog lights etc on during the day. It was not a cosmetic issue for me, more a practical & visibility issue.

I have Super White LED's in my two front driving/parking lights (the plastic ones next to the Glass Fog) and I like the look on my '85. It gets noticed and less people pull out in front of you

There was mention in the last few weeks about the LED strips availalable from Amazon. Self stick. Cut to length. Haven't decided how to get power to some on the front there without cutting or splicing though.

Tony, good to see you back in modification mode again!
I would add them only if they could be neatly integrated "inside" the '87+ fog/driving light assembly. I think that is the only way to get a "factory installed" look to it. Another option maybe is to put LED's behind the clear plastic "divider" between the turn signal and the fog lights.

Think I just need to buy some examples of these flexible light strips and see if any of them will work out. Would like to hear from Borland, Ed S and maybe Alan to get their thoughts. Looking forward to those pics 928Myles. Thank you, T

If the front grill were wider you could slot them in outboard. I really dont see a tasteful place to put them otherwise?
Perhaps directly under the fog lamp turn signal assembly? But it would have to look good with the lights off also.
Nice thing is, there is PLENTY of room to work with behind that nose cover.

What if you were to mount the LED's on the corners down low between the bottom of the bumper and top of the front skidplate ? On post # 12 above, they are mounted down low, and look pretty cool. They would still keep them lined up directly under the headlamps like most of the OEM's are doing. Also, if they were mounted in these positions, they would not be noticed when the car is parked and the lights are off ? T
