Just how much quieter are resonated exhaust tips?

I have a pair of 22" resonated exhaust tips that I plan on welding in place of some rusted exhaust tips off an older generation RMB. The piping diameter is 2.25" which will be reducing from my 2.5" exhaust. I have some drone going on right now with my one chamber Flowmasters that I never heard before. I figure this will quiet it down a little at the back end as well, but by how much? Will there still be the noise I'm looking for at WOT? The resonated body of the tips measures about 16". They are made by Ansa and a picture is below.

I have an '89 S4 with an X-pipe, bullet cats, Dynomax mufflers in place of the resonators, and straight pipes back. Very bad drone at 2200 - 2500 RPM that needs to go away; otherwise I'm happy with the sound. A muffler shop here in Seattle recommended bullet 'glasspacs' added where the rear muffler would have been, followed by short, plain tips. It seems like the muffled tips would do about the same thing.
If the mufflers couldn't be hidden well, the tips may be the best visual option, especially if they can be 2.25" without affecting performance.

I had the problem of my flowmaster being a bit "raspy" at high rpm.
Adding a resonated tip cured the problem.
I used one of these:
