Maybe to help justify the asking price and there is probably A LOT of "wiggle room" in that $14.9 K?

After just finishing this job on my friend's 928 - a complete redo with Rob Budd recover - I wouldn't let anyone but a very experienced 928 guy do that job (I've also done pod pulls and center consol pulls a few other times). There are way too many little things that can go wrong or misaligned or connected improperly when doing this work, and if it is done fast and cheap, you can count on problems later on. Lots of electronics behind those interior pieces.

My worry exactly. I asked that the work be left undone, as I had planned on sending it out to Paul Champ. to have the work done.....I suspect that it might be a lot of blah blah that it was removed...Hence the request for pictures with it out.....Bill wrote me back that the dash was out at the repair shop (I wrote back that I had requested pictures of the dash out).....

Sounds to me like you should buy a mechanically sound car with a trashed interior and send it to Paul. Might be cheaper in the end.

With all due respect, warped interior panels? Bodyshop? Sounds like the typical neglected 928 to me so far. Nowhere near 14.9. Maybe 5 unless a close inspection reveals a diamond in the rough, which can certainly happen, too!

Rick-

Can you pass on the name of the shop you were talking about, and maybe do a little snoop and poop when it gets back from the leather and lace routine?

Thanks

Frank

I believe the rear quarter window needs to be regasketed on that car.
See the water marks?

( Out of 10 quarter windows in my driveway, 4 leak)

Its the combination of heat and a little interior moisture that warps the panels in my experience, not heat / sun alone.

I'm glad to see that FT is doing what they said. I'll look forward to seeing the car after it's done. I may drop in this weekend and talk to Bill. If I do, I'll let you know if I learn anything else.

I'm confused. What car are you referring to, Wyattsride?

Since the dash and all that is out, tell them to replace the HVAC diaphragm actuators, now is the time to do it.

Sorry Jim. We kind of went on a tangent from your original post, after I referenced this 85 5-speed that is for sale about 2 miles from my house.
