After opening the link at the start of this thread: www.eurosportdc.com I don't see any SUV's, only sports cars. You said you went to this event last year, what vehicle did you take then T

Riiiiiiggggghhhhhhttttttt.........did you notice that it was in response to another post and not directly to the original post?

I also followed it up with which one I would take to the show.....or did you miss that too?

The thread was a series of comments on the performance creds of the Cayenne, which then opens it up to opposing comments, kinda how this works.

Why take the Cayenne of course! I'm kidding, take the 928 unless you are expecting snow. The 928 is more comfortable. Though I don't own a pepper I have spent many an hour driving and riding in a friend's turbo beast. It is more sports car than most sports cars to be sure. But that is technology at work. Driving a 928 is more about driving than driving a SUV that has great technology that makes good drivers great drivers common. The 928 still takes a bit of skill and therefore gets my vote. I think it's more comfortable at speed twisting about two lane roads than the Cayenne.

Let's see, it's already June, I need to go fill up the Civic Hybrid.

Wow, this seems like a pretty cool event. I'm actually gonna try and make it, if I come back from out of town early enough.

And to stick with the topic of the thread. Of course take the 928.

If you want to go fast, take the fast car. Be comfortable. Have cup holders.

So the official decision will be I will take the 928.

Just ordered Roger's short shifter which should be here Thursday, then detail on friday, drive to DC saturday, event Sunday, drive back to NYC monday. Should be a great weekend.

In response to last year, I was supposed to take the 928 but had a bearing went bad in the brand new water pump I had put on only one week earlier. I couldn't diagnose the sound so I ended up riding shotgun in a car. Also didn't have the Cayenne last year, if I would have I would have taken that only because the 928 was down.

This year was more about keeping up with the fast kids. I guess either car would be up to the task, but I feel the Cayenne outperforms the 928 (its an 81). And another poster is right....didn't see any SUV's there and no BMW or Mercedes Invite so the EXOTIC 928 it is

A man named Pope once said, "only accurate rifles are interesting." Fortunately, we're talking about two "accurate rifles," and IMHO you have made the right choice of which to take to the event.

I don't plan on pushing it with my car (been there done that in groups and the risks can be very high with cars of this caliber and unknown driver abilities). I've got x-pipe, no cats, RMB, S3 cams, wider-than-stock tires, 5 speed, LSD, and almost two decades of racing. Don't embarrass me by making me the only 928 that takes it slow So don't worry about "keeping up", just enjoy the event, camaraderie, scenery and food.

Hopefully I can get a ride in the car to see how it feels vs mine.

Went last year and it was a good time. Needless to say it was a very good time; and at times there was some spirited driving.

So my question is what car to take. I guess is my concen with my ability to "keep up with the fast group".

Being an 81 Vs. an 06 I feel that the the Cayenne S would be the better choice for keeping up with the fast pack, but the 928 I think would get a lot more respect over the pig.

Suggestions? Comments?
DUH!
