Gentlemen:
All went well/easy as you described.
This wire is hopefully my interior / passenger door comfort light issue.
I"m out to the usual 928 part suppliers if they carry this wire.
Hopefully this is the answer to my slow/minimal parasitic electrical leak as well.
that wire should be soldered to the tip on the bottom of the receiver. what your looking at is a pin switch.
Like I said this is the connector that you want to leave disconnected,
and is most likely NOT the cause of the lighting issues,
( Please reread post 12 as I detailed where you should be looking for the lighting issues.)
BUT as written will remove the chance that the hatch latch will cause any battery drains if the hatch is left open.
Is the blue circle wire to be soldered to the red arrow pin/receiver? I'll solder it even if doing so serves no function.
Then to your points in note 12 - I leave the plastic/2 prong male connector loose/not connected? I couldn't find the matching female connection anyway.
Please note, this is a 1980 928 and has no electric hatch release button/motor.
Leaving this 2 prong male connector loose will remove dead battery/parasitic electrical drain issues?
And the interior lights will still turn on when I raise the hatch or open a door?

You can see the parts >>> here <<< and >>> here <<<, but the best visual is in the last three images >>> here <<<.
The pin and ring terminal make a switch to turn the light on when the hatch opens.
If those wires are not connected, the lights will NOT turn on when the hatch is opened.
As per your picture, step 1 is for me to purchase and a female circular connector and connect it onto the loose wire (see blue arrow)?
Then once that female connector is on, I connect it to the bottom of the existing pin?
Then I put the plastic connector into the side of the hatch(see three black arrows)?
And if i do this, the rear hatch light will turn on when the hatch is raised? Please note, it already turns on when the doors are opened.
And then plug in the end plastic connector back into the hatch? Doing these 3 black arrows will get the hatch light to turn on when the hatch is opened? Please note, my 1980 does not have a hatch motor
