Hello,my name is cliff and i just purchased a 1982 928.Looking forward to knowing all about these fine machines.the car runs and drives good just has afew qwerks.Iam looking for someone who has a good used smog pump,the one on the car is froze.so ofcource my cooling fan doesnt turn,also the fan turns to many times when spun by hand.so i am looking for one of those also.if any one can help me it would be appriciated.thank you.

As a temporary or permanent measure, you can use a 21" or 22' belt on your fan, bypassing the seized air pump. Loosen the bolts holding the fan, install the belt, and tighten the bolts. I gave two different sizes because there are different fan pulleys available on the 928, with no easy way to tell which belt will fit best. The easiest way is to buy one of each size, keep them clean, and return the one that doesn't work.
You can refill the fan clutch with silicone fluid, usually available at a good hobby shop for use on RC cars - you need the thickest available. One version of the refill instructions are here: http://www.nichols.nu/tip482.htm
