Default Buzzing

I was out running the 86.5 today and picked up a loud buzzing, loud inside the car louder outside. The tank is about empty I have a new fuel filter but I don't know about the pump or pumps. First how do I know if I have one or two pumps ( inside and outside ), and should I fill her back up to see if this quites the noise down. I have read that one of the pumps can fail causing the second one to work harder also a valve behind the wheel well could be clogged causing a large vaccum in the tank. Any ideas would be great. Thanks, Jack

If the tank is very low, the outside pump (this is the main one) gets loud. If you fill her up it will go away.

Well started her up this morning, no noise. Took her out for a ride and a fill up, still no noise. Hope that was the issue. Going to do a little wiring work today, stereo, mirror and door lights.

The noise increases when the pump gets hot and low fuel, so this morning the pump was cold. Hope that was it.

This is exactly how my car reacts when low on fuel. You should be good to go

Your 86.5 should have one pump, and it is external. They can get really loud, mine has been since I bought it, and it is usually (but not always?!) when the fuel is low.
