Damn... CD sirens are going off here (Olathe, KS) now, too. Tornado already spotted heading almost directly toward where my sister lives in southern Overland Park about 10 miles east of me (same house where Helen and I used to live).
Having anticipated this a few hours ago, the shark is safely parked at home.
Crap... just heard that there's a tornado touchdown at 151st and Roe... exactly 1 mile east of sis. Hope she took me seriously and hit the basement when I called her five minutes ago (she was upstairs working on the computer, not taking the CD sirens very seriously). Another update... tornado on ground at 137th and Metcalf.

Laura just called me describing the damage just a few blocks over from our house, which was unscathed. Looks like a small nader might have just missed us. The roof was gone off the recreation center right by my house, and trees were down everywhere. But a few blocks on either side of this were un-touched.......and Laura's mother and little Mike were with us so no gettin nasty in the hospital basement!!

OK out here west of the metro-mess. Got a lot of rain and small hail but no damage.
For some reason or ground contour, or air patterns or who knows what, the line of storms seems to form along I 20 and then proceeds NE of my house then across the NE and NW of the metro area. This is a common path for the storms in this area, and I've seen it repeat many times over many years. Once in a while one will go a bit further south, but most of them go over S Denton county and into the DFW area then off to the NE around McKinney. Weird.

I used to do storm chasing back in Kansas from about 1991 to when I moved to Texas in 2003. Saw many things but never a tornado. Had always commented that I wanted to see one up close, just not one close to my own home.
Well, as you can tell from the pictures, I got to see one, and it was way to freaking close to home. The neighbor took video of it from about two miles from the house, will see if I can upload it.

Wasn't there a member here from Joplin, Mo.? I can't seem to recall the name(CRS), but I remember noting that he was from Missouri. If anybody remembers who that is, have they been in contact with that person? He may not be on RL right now if he lost internet ....or maybe everything. I just hope everybody is okay.

Funny we were talking about this last night while huddled together in the dark! All we could come up with is that when unstable air comes close to the 9200 square miles of heated concrete jungle encompassing the DFW metroplex, bad things happen.....
