Keep an eye on the mailbox in a few days...

Hi Bob,

Hope you are doing great. BTW, meeting you at the Frenzy last year after ALL these years (decade+++) was literally the highlight of the trip.

Hope we can get together more often in the future, if we keep up the current track record we might be racing walkers around the shop at the Frenzy next time.... I would prefer that not be the case!!

Cheers,

Dave
Dave, it was certainly my pleasure! I've been manipulating project schedules to be in NC for SITM, but it turns out I'll be missing it by a day (!!!). I'll be flying from west Texas through Charlotte on Sunday afternoon, on the way to RDU then south to Rockingham. Thought I might be able to hit all the majors in a year, but it isn't in the cards this time around. My east-coast project schedule thia year almost makes it worthwhile to keep a 928 there. Almost.

Now back to the regularly scheduled discussion thread.

Derek,
Awesome and the drive home must have been a blast.
I wish I had a GT but I will have to make do with my 89S4 5 speed. The fastest accelerating 928 in my collection.

The ride home was great, Rog. I'm looking forward to getting and installing those "short dude", clutch extension plates. I'm reaching fine...but I suspect these may help decrease the overall effort.

Congrats, Derek!

Did you install that steering wheel? I don't think it was in there at Sharks in the Park. Seth would have gotten a heart attack...

Well, since the car feels at home in the Bay Area, you now have to come to Sharks in the Park every year.

Al-right listen up. I hate to be a big poop on Derek 86.5 but i think he should buy all of us one of those if he is going to have one. How many votes do I get? Ray

I brought the wheel from my 86.5 and Rob graciously helped to install it. That original wheel will be saved, rest assured....but not likely used by me. I may go the 930 route in the near future, if I can find a decent deal on a black one (gray doesn't work ).
I think SITP would be the perfect excuse to take a Norcal road trip. Thanks for the invitation.

Give me another 42 years to save up and you can be next in line.

Thumbs up Congrats on the 89 GT

I'm so glad to see my old love go to a good home!

Nicole is right, i was pissed that the 930 wheel was removed as well as the 996 wheels...the car was way cleaner and tighter when I owned her!

That said, I realize that most people are not nearly as insane as I am.

Enjoy it!

BIG thanks to you, Seth and a hearty to your insanity.

Don't worry...I have a lot of time to obsess over this beauty and make her blindingly spotless and virginal tight once again.

HA HA..J/K ..call it what ever you like!

Now, about waiting for pics until it is washed..sorry, not a good excuse! :-)

Let me make it easier for you to feel better about posting pics of it, even dirty.....if I can post the pic below, you no longer have an excuse to hold out on us!!

Here is my current 89GT...uh, actually my only "titled" 928 currently.

Those with weak stomachs should turn away...

Some day it will be brought back to life, I promise!!!
Derek,

Thanks to your thread and the fun of talking about 89GTs with you guys... looky what happened in the last 2 days!!!

Cleaned and pressure washed inside and out, and moved to a better location for future "work" on it!!!

YES!!!!

The DR 89GT project is officially "off the ground".

Out of the heap and onto the blocks...I see one bad-*** 89GT in my crystal ball.
