I've gotten pulled over plenty of times, gotten off with warnings in some cases where I could have easily ended up behind bars, and have also gotten some steep tickets, some deserved, some not so much... Have ditched the cops a few times, not recently but a few times in my old '83S. Once I had several Boston Police cruisers chasing me through the city streets after I hit about a buck going down a down a strip by the docks late at night where I often punched it in the car and practiced wheelies on my bike, usually no cops there. On this night I was giving a new girlfriend (coming home from first date actually) a ride and got carried away after she said she wanted to 'go fast'. So we did and found ourselves hearing sirens from all directions after I had turned away from the water and going through an old part of town with lots of one way streets, cop cars squealing around corners after us, I kept turning down other side streets, punching it, circling around until I got to a way I knew to cut through to another neighborhood and back into the Navy Yard area where I live. Came flying around towards my building watching close not to hit someone but basically drifting around corners, then up into my parking garage, gate closed behind me, whewww. Saw the cops driving around looking for me for a while that night. Didn't drive the car after that for almost a week to keep a low profile. Instead of dumping me on the spot, the new date I was with was totally adrenalin pumped and turned on by the whole thing, so that worked out well actually. So well we're still together and married now

Greg,

thankfully I know enough of the law up here to for the most part get myself out of trouble with ease.
The police up here also know that if they violate your civil rights, they will receive hell, and depending on the circumstances loose their job. Basically, I made my point that I was not worth the mountains of paperwork, and extended hassle to them to bother with me and to simply bugger off as what may or may not have been done was not in any way unsafe.

A cute female cop pulled me over one night when I was living in Kansas City. I was pulling away from a light making a left turn in my Taurus SHO and I pushed just a little too hard on the pedal and chirped the tires. She pulled me over, asked why I'd pulled away from the light so hard and spent the next five minutes chatting me up. I was dating someone at the time, so I didn't take the bait. Besides, she was a cop; I think the 'manhandling' in that relationship would have gone the wrong way!

I don't speed too badly: I keep it 10-15 over on the highway and at the limit on surface streets. I don't remember the last time I got a ticket at all, and the last time I got a speeding ticket was 15 years ago for 35 in a 25 school zone, a couple days after the school zone sign was added to the street I'd been driving on every day for the preceeding 10 years.

You guys just need to slow down...

Back in the 1950s, my friend, Jean-Claude, did a favor for Max Hoffman in demonstrating the top end performance of the Gullwing for a client that did not believe the numbers. He took it out on the then sparsely populated NJ TP and ran its length thereby generating a statewide police alert. None of the patrol cars could touch him but radio was quicker and he was met by a sea of flashing lights at the end.

Getting out of the car he promptly began speaking fluent French and produced his FIA license. I was told the judge did not believe the speed and dismissed it -- along with getting out of Gestapo custody in Paris, one of the more memorable moments in his life, I suspect. One of his friends told me that this made the front page of the New York Times.

Hate to say it, but if you're in your late 70's upward, a mere speeding ticket can easily generate an exam of your driving skills. A friend of my Great Aunt, who was in his early 90's got a 35 in a 25 school zone ticket and that pretty much shut down his life. His family then swooped in and took him back to Illinois.

Me, 106 on an exit ramp (but not in any of the Pcars). He wrote me for like 80 or something like that so I could take DD or get a deferral.
I've had some bad luck too... If I never got another ticket I would still say my luck is bad.

155 on the Interstate in a Porsche 911. Went past 3 cars at 130 with a friend and it said it was like they were sitting still. I said, One way up there watch this and stepped on it. At 155mph closing the reflective tape lit up when the headlights hit it saying "STATE COP". Hard on the brakes and car squirming and tires growling. Got it down to 65mph right by the cop. Told my friend "WHATEVER YOU DO DON"T LOOK AT HIM". Cop slowed a lil, I slowed a lil. Cop took the next exit. After he was out of sight I nailed it. Friend asks what I'm doing, I told him I'm not letting him come down the ramp behind me. Which he never did. Problem was, Cop took our exit. So had a 1.5 hour drive to get back there off of the interstate. I'd say it was worth it. LOL..

GSXR750 at 155mph too. Went flying by him while he had a radar gun on and just tucked in a lil more. He never moved.

I used to drive over 100mph everywhere I went. And I mean everywhere on the interstate. After hitting 40, I've slowed. Only time for bonzai runs is 2am on deserted interstates.

Came home on 55 from a place called Pops in St. Louis with a GF to Holiday Shores to drop her off. We pull up in her drive and she gets out shaking a lil. I ask whats wrong, Said it's the first time making it home in under 5 minutes from pops. We were over 130 the whole way. LOL.. And 55 was known for cops sitting and lasering. And, It wasn't 5 min. Porsche 911

Friend said he wanted to ride in a Porsche 911. So me and him run from Holiday Shores to Bethalto on a back road that was very straight and nobody on it. He's reading off the speeds as we pass them. Gets to 120 and say's 120, 120, 121, 121. I slow down and turn around. I was staring at the road so I wasn't watching the speedo. I said, I know it's running a lil rough but didn't think it was that slow. He asked what the bottom mph was. I said, 150mph. He said , "OH, Then 151mph." LOL... Drove back to the house around 100mph. Get home he said I have a flat on his side. Hmm, they are low profile tires and it was dropped. Just looks flat. Walk over and kick it. Nope, about 10lbs of air in the tire. LOL...

Went to a gf's family reunion in a Tornado 86. Ran 114 mph on the interstate the whole way there because it had a limiter at 115mph so set the cruise at 114. Get there and her aunt say's when we are leaving, "Keep it under 100." GF just says, Oh, he won't. LOL... It was a new car and everyone wanted to look at it because they were pretty then. Used to tow a 18 ft ski boat with it. LOL.. It was a nice car.

Now, speedlimit on the interstates pretty much all the time. Glad I didn't get one of "THOSE" tickets.

Oh, you wreck at those speeds and you're dead.

Bought my first 928 two weeks ago. Kind of a birthday gift to me. Got a ticket on the second day of ownership while driving from Seattle to Dallas. I was coasting ... down a hill ... just west of Denver. Speed limit changed from 75 to 65 going up the hill ... got busted going down at 83. No excuse worked. I was from out of state. When I pulled back on to the highway there were 3 other cars pulled over. What a trap!

Haha great stuff Ill have to try that sometime.

I've broke into the triple digits often enough, but my only ticket was in high school when I passed an suv right after a cop went by. Pulled me over and ticketed me for 68 in a 50. My valentine said he didn't even have his radar gun on. He was just jealous seeing a high schooler driving a shiny Porsche. Not to mention I was being a smart *** calling him out for not even getting me with radar.
