Default Piggy back connectors for computers

I found a long time ago a post that a vendor is selling piggy back connectors for the 86 Lh and EZF. This allows a breakout with pins to tap into the the harness without cutting it, anyone know who sells this?

Porken used to sell them but quit some time ago. As far as I know its a DIY job now. I made mine from a SAAB computer and associated harness connect I got from the local salvage yard. I ran pickup wires to a standard 25 pin D-sub connector and the attached individual D-sub pins to my analog cable so I can pick and choose what signals I want to monitor. The SAAB computer is short 2 pins in the 25 pin plub so if you make sure the two vacant pins are at #15 and #24 then you will have all pin locations necessary for either the LH or EZF bridged so you can install the bridge addaptor at either location.

Trying to source any old Computers does any one know what other cars would use the Bosch 25 pin? Anyone have a dead unit that wants to sell the connectors or trashed wiring harness?

You might as well find the plug for the L-Jet while you're at it.

AFAIK all cars with LH 2.2 have the 25 pin LH connectors. You will probably have the most luck with mid 80's to early 90's Volvos and SAABs. LH 2.3 and above already have the 35 pin connectors.

John at JDS Porsche has a very impressive piggy-back breakout assembly that is the best I have ever seen. It is not inexpensive, but IMHO it is very "cheap" for what you get and the work it would take to replicate it to such a professional level of quality. Comes wired to work with LH2.2 and EZF brains(not at the same time).

Available from John directly, or Jim Corenman, or myself.

It has been a year or more since I got one from John, and I do not know current pricing. Will check with him if he doesn't chime in later...or if he calls me screaming at adding to his work load.. J/K...LOL!!

NAPA can order these for you if you go into the store and look through their Bosch catalog.

By the way, is this what you are looking for? http://www.boschrexroth.com/pneumati...p298194_en.pdf If so let me know. I might be able to get one of my procurement guys to source it for you.

Hi Dave, good to see you posting again !

I would be prepared to sell a few of the units as I bought them, (not wired for SharkTuner Mk1). Wiring them for ST is labour intensive and adds to the cost

For a simple DIY BOB people can add the wires they need to intercept, or tap into the connector as per the picture. $70 incl airmail postage.

That's a great price. The molded case is sweet. Looks like an accessory from some diagnostic computer?

When I was making 25-pin passthroughs I used early 90's Mercedes CIS-e brains which were plentiful in the U-pull junkyards, but my favorite yard turned into a they-pull, and the 'Bridgits' took forever to make. (For 35-pin I used ABS brains from the same cars.)
