Default What is this part?

Guys,

This came out of the passenger front fender well of EURO85. One of the hoses was not even connected and the bracket was broken so the thing was just flopping around... It is a Purolator "filter" of some sort... we just pulled it out since it was not hooked up fully anyway. Have not tried starting the car yet, it is probably the magic part that makes a 928 run and we have just killed EURO85! LOL! Doubt it!

Anyway, tell me what this thing was for? Based on the crappy "hose clamp" holding it in place I am guessing it was part of the "federalization" of the car.

Appendix.

Stitch up the lines that were attached and the car should be fine.

Vapor canister has got to be right...do they have charcoal in them? I am just going to toss this one and don't want to mess with cutting it open... Jim, I suspect you are correct! This one certainly didn't work since it was 1/2 disconnected anyway!

That is how most of them function the charcoal absorbs vapors while parked then after the engine is warm it sucks air to purge the vapors sending them into the intake to be burned. They were NOT tested for function simply visual that they were there, so most labs cheated..... just like the broomsticks painted black in the doors for the side intrusion protection
