Royal Purple 20-50?
Sorry for busting out this thread without a search but I am limited on time.
A local salesman has a case of Royal Purple 20-50W that is $10 a qt.
I can get it tonite (yea I know, "what will it take for you to drive this beauty home TONITE!!!")
But he has to make an oil order first thing Tomorrow AM and wants to show he sold more oil. He has one case of 12 qts for $104 out the door which is $10 than TEN qts of the mobil 15-50 he has.
Is Royal purple any good? I have 30 minutes till closing.
thanks in advance.

IMO overpriced.
For the money I would use Redline, and in fact I do in two of the cars.
I still have a few miscellaneous bottles of RP on the shelf in various viscountcies I now reserve for the lawn mower.
Last year I switched the 928's to Brad Penn, this year back to VR-1 due to the rebate.

Kind of shocked that your summer is long enough to need a lawn mower.

That was around the time Castrol (my #1 oil at the time) was going through the accusations of not selling "real" synthetic and Mobil 1 was following suit.
Then came the experiment with DELVEK 5w-40, following by VR-1 until I switched to Brad Penn last year.
This has left quite a casserole of mixed oil bottles in my garage

You know what, I dont know if I trust Mobil one that much anymore. Its changed and I dont know how close it is to the oil we used to trust out here in the desert. Temperatures are high, for long periods of time.
It doesnt stop desert dwellers from going to Death Valley for a picnic in August. So we need Oil that is worthy of that trip. I need to do some research.
On one of my Dirt Bike forums we some how we got a PhD from some Cal State University to do a HUGE in-depth study of all the oils we were using in Motocross racing. It was a FANTASTIC study. The problem? its probably out of date now.
We need some enthusiast who has the means the money and the laboratory to do the analysis then publish it for us.

Yeah, the M1 15w-50 is no longer found at WalMart, or anywhere around here. Went with the M1 10w-40 HM on the wife's S4 and the M1 10w-30 on my daughter's Tuscon. With the heat down here, I've always felt more comfortable with a 40 or 50 weight for the summer time. Guess I could give the RP a try if they have a 15w-50 cause I sure like that multi-weight combo.
