Default Innovate LM-1 mounting?

How are you guys mounting your LM1's for tuning?
I think after I get the carputer I will install a LC-1 and have the ability to log at will.

I have another one mounted in the Corvette with a LMA-3 & RPM convertor, and it is just ugly when it is out in the open.
The XD-16 gauge is really nice though.

The new one will be for sale at some point in the future for a good price for some one.

Forget the LC1, get the new digital one that they have. It is WAY better.

It
Colin- The LM2? Almost bought one but didn't see how to get an analog out from it with a 1/8" female jack to plug into the sharktuner.

The LM-1's box is pretty big , it would be a challenge to fit it and an ST2 in the console. I'm hoping to try that with the carputer install. If that doesn't work I have an LC-1 that is hibernating underneath the car right now. The LC-1 will tuck up above the cat heatshield, like so:

Nope the "digital MTX".

It has a cable which fits through the floor in the factory location. No more having to zip tie the LC1 under the car.

When using it, the output signal is slightly different, so you need to reconfig for it (easy in the sharktuner). As well, the outputs are reversed for wideband/narrowband...

For temporary use, I used double sided tape to mount a piece of 1x1 inch alum angle stock across the back of it about 1 inch down from the top, so the stock is at 90deg to the back of the LM1. The 1 inch piece fits nicely into the space above the top of the 2 ventilation 'things' in the center console. The LM1 hangs down over the hvac panel and stays in place, and is easy to read. I needed this to move it between 3 cars, and it works well in each :-)

In my car and a couple of others, I've mounted an LM-1, LMA-3, and RPM converter in the rear center console. Out of sight, but easily accessible, and mounting it there with Velcro makes it secure, but easy to remove. Of course that's not an option on cars with rear A/C.

Some Innovate stuff might end up on the shelf above the driver or passenger side floor too.

I do not need or want a gauge, if I want to display that I will do so on the Carputer.

Thanks though.

I almost bought the LM-2 also, just because it would be easy to hook up to the laptop, how did you go from a serial port to a USB?

Any issues with the LC-1?

I think we both have the same ideas about the sharktuner/carputer.

The Carputer is going to be a very handy thing, it will allow me to get the clutter of the GPS, MP3 player and Sat radio out of the way.

Greg,

I've got LC-1's installed in our S4 and GT, tie-wrapped above the heat-shield similar to Rob's photo. (A bit more dirt, however). Both have been there for a couple of years, GT for about 25K miles (S4, not so many) and both have been trouble-free. The ST2 mostly lives in the GT, just aft of the pass-side "hump" next to the seat. We use a small "netbook" computer, works great.

The LM-1 is perfect as a portable WBO2, and the display is nice to verify that the WBO2 is working when swapping from car to car. You'll want to hang onto that for tuning customer cars

For your own car I would do the LC-1 at some point, and the MTX that Colin recommended is very sweet for those who want a gauge. For the LM-1, why not just toss it on the pass-side floor with the ST2 box? Or the "electronic gadget shelf" that Mike mentioned?

I'm also working on some harness options for the ST2, that will allow "plug and play" with the ST2 and most WBO2's. I will hopefully have something to show at SITM.

Cheers, Jim

man a custom harness would be great for non computer folks like me.
Any suggestions on converting to a USB on the LM1?

Greg, can't you just use a serial port to USB adapter?

No Vista, No more.
I installed XP because my shop programs would not run on Vista, and that was a shame, I like Vista.
